Zoom and Microsoft Teams Integration Options.Comparing Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet

While Zoom was built video-first, Teams shed MOST of its legacy Skype for Business baggage when it was built from scratch to run as a true UCaaS Unified Communications as a Service solution , to incorporate both great workstream collaboration functionality as well as a cutting-edge conference and voice.

Zoom and Teams both offer high scalability and quality, but the ease of use cu rrent winner is probably Zoom. However, as of this posting, Teams currently lags Zoom on some of the video-related functionality such as HD Video Conferencing breadth i. See how we stack them against each other.

Zoom offers key conferencing features that are either missing or do not perform as well in Teams. This list includes the ability for up to 1,00 0 video participants to join, the ability to show up to 49 participants vs only the most recent 4 with Teams , and a simplified meeting join experience for external attendees vs needing to add external attendees as guests with Teams to prevent them from having to join anonymously. Add to this the market perception that Zoom is simply easier to use from an end user perspective , and you have a great formula for video conferencing success.

Zoom is avai lable as an app lication in the Micr osoft Teams App Store. On ce installed, the integration allows users to start a meeting or join a scheduled meeting from within the Microsoft Teams persistent Zoom Meetings tab or using mentions from any Teams channel. Through the Microsoft Teams Zoom Meetings tab, users can start, schedule, join meetings, or share screen s.

The Zoom Meetings tab also lists all the Zoom Meetings in the calendar. In addition to the great Teams integration, Zoom also folds itself very conveniently into other parts of the user experience with the greater Microsoft ecosystem by allowing for Active Directory unified login, OneDrive content sharing , and also the all-important ability to both schedule a Zoom meeting and initiate that meeting from within Outlook.

Receive a Demo for your company now. Both Zoom , and now also Microsoft , have realized that they must put aside their competitive inclinations and focus on the simplest way to join any meeting from anywhere — no matter the vendor or service. As a result, Zoom, Microsoft , as well as Cisco, have worked together to enhance conference room interoperability and simplify how you connect to third-party meetings.

Historically, a video conferencing vendor handled all the hardware and software pieces of enterprise video conferencing, resulting in the need for organizations to buy proprietary products from their vendor. Having all parts of the video experience provided by a single vendor limited options for organizations looking for cross-platform flexibility. The Zoom and Microsoft collaboration provides interoperability between conference room solutions to create streamlined meeting experiences.

Available in early , Microsoft Teams Rooms will be able to offer a single click join to Zoom meetings, without the purchase of additional licenses or third-party services. If you use the Admin password to log into the windows settings side of the Slice machine, you’re actually using a regular windows interface.

You can then use a browser to log into any of these other services as usual and join meetings. In my tests, the hardware webcam, mic, speakers all functioned normally. In essence, using the Slice with the regular PC interface instead of the touchscreen Teams interface. The Microsoft Team had previously said “early ” I guess I’ll take late :. Jody Finch Is there any word on what hardware will support this feature? Don’t like just setting up a laptop with W10 and forcing users to either login as themselves or a shared account.

Jody Finch thank you! When we checked our system a few weeks ago, this hadn’t yet been enabled. Is there an automatic software update that’ll be pushed to enable this functionality? Be sure to go into your device settings Main Teams Screen ‘ I just saw that Graham Walsh wrote up a thorough how-to. Check that out astraitman. Nice job Graham. Jody Finch Thanks for the detailed response. I am using the Logitech Rally Plus it is a certified device.

I do not see the option Settings for Meetings. The device is acting like a Room. I can use the proximity join feature as expected. He confirmed that his Rally’s are showing the option. Jody Finch What device is he using for Teams Room? I have the Nuc with Tap. That screen does not look like mine. For example, I have a blue bar at the top. We do have web filtering via the Palo Alto. I excluded this device to see if that makes any difference.

We are not a government tenant. IF anything, we actually have first release enabled on all of our accounts and the tenant. I did log into the device as the admin. I am able to access the web. Even downloaded Edge : No noticeable limitations. I just did a reset device and still not showing those options nor showing in TMR I assume this is referring to the Teams Admin.

Just seen you’re on 4. Open the Microsoft Store and do a check for updates. You should be on 4. Graham Walsh I was actually coming back to report that over the weekend the device started working as expected. You can also add a password to the meeting if you want to make it more secure. When you add the Zoom integration to Microsoft Teams, you get two things, the Zoom meeting tab and the Zoom bot. The tab is great for launching and scheduling meetings.

It also gives you the option to instantly share your screen. If you want to:. When your meeting ends, your bot will post a summary and recording link in your Microsoft Teams chat. To join a Microsoft Teams meeting from a Zoom room, sign into the Zoom web portal. Click Room Management, then Zoom Rooms. Choose Account Settings and click the Meeting tab. Toggle the Support 3 rd party conferencing dial-in option on.

On the Meeting Settings tab make sure Support 3 rd party conferencing dial-in is on. Once the setting is enabled for your Zoom Room, send the room an invite. If you use Zoom in your meeting rooms but rolled out Microsoft Teams for remote workers, you need a method of connecting the two together.

You can connect your Zoom in-room devices to your Teams virtual meeting rooms using OneMeeting. This means everyone joins the same meeting from either Zoom or Microsoft Teams. You get one interface and one management suite.

However, this feature is coming soon. You can link both chat systems through Mio — a better way to connect Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Mio syncs the conversations your employees have on Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Once installed behind the scenes, our tech translates your Teams messages to Zoom Chat — and vice versa.
