Yesterday I installed Xubuntu Today I joined a Zoom meeting and cannot hear the audio, no matter what I try.
I mean, if I click where the mouse is in picture 2, nothing happens. I have tried to unplug the HDMI screen, same result. I have tried to plug the headphones in the screen headphone connector, no audio at all there. Finally after some time I found that I can change this configuration within Zoom. It seems that Zoom locks itself to some audio output and the OS is not able to change it. After connecting the HDMI cable, on computer volume select your computer system e.

With the lockdown I’ve been using Zoom on my Windows laptop with the builtin webcam and microphone. I was excited to discover that I could plug in an HDMI cable and expand the laptop window to fill my TV screen which makes it great for family chats etc.
The only way I’ve found to get sound is to plug a couple of little speakers into the laptop. As I have a lovely TV with a great soundbar I wonder if there’s any way to use the soundbar eg. Any suggestions gratefully accepted? You should be able to select the sound device from the speaker icon on the taskbar to the right on your computer.
It should open a menu like below and if you click where the red arrow is pointing you should get the option to select the tv. SteveCritten Distinguished Member. On my TV you may have to select in the sound menu the input device. On my Windows10 PC, the popup menu from the speaker icon looks like.
Folks, prompted by your responses, I investigated further and found that while the laptop defaults to sound via the TV, eg. I found the option in the Zoom configuration menu to set sound to the TV in my case it’s a Sony Thanks all for your helpful replies.
